Owner & Founder
Barkat Charania
Dr. Barkat Charania is the Founder of Oil Products Distribution, which he established in 1995. With an entrepreneurial vision and long-term approach to growth, he built the company into a trusted name in fuel distribution, known for its reliability, service, and strong customer relationships.
With over 50 years of experience across international business, investments, and operations, Dr. Charania brings deep expertise in strategic growth and long-term value creation.
Prior to his entrepreneurial ventures, Dr. Charania was a practicing orthopedic surgeon, bringing a disciplined and analytical approach to business. He is also deeply committed to philanthropy, serving on advisory boards including the Eternal Gandhi Foundation and supporting initiatives in education, healthcare, and economic development.
A lifelong learner, he is a certified Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, and an author of multiple books.
Principal / President
Afshi Charania Merchant
Afshi Charania Merchant is a Principal and President of Oil Products Distribution, where she has helped lead the company’s growth for nearly 30 years. Known for her strategic mindset and strong business leadership, she has played a key role in driving aggressive growth while building a company rooted in reliability, service, and long-term relationships.
Her experience in the energy sector, combined with a hands-on approach to leadership, has helped position Oil Products Distribution as a trusted partner in the fuel and service industry.
In addition to her business leadership, Afshi is deeply committed to community service and civic engagement. She is currently an elected Trustee on the Fort Bend Independent School District Board. Additionally, she has served in various leadership and volunteer roles across Fort Bend County, including the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Fort Bend Independent School District committees, Child Advocates of Fort Bend, and other local organizations.
Afshi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Business with Honors from the University of Houston. She has been recognized with the Houston West Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur Award and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Houston District Entrepreneurship Success Award of the Year.

Imran Charania
Imran Charania provides high-level guidance and oversight for Oil Products Distribution, focusing on organizational systems, internal processes, and long-term growth initiatives. As a seasoned business leader and head of another enterprise, Tire Sales International, he advises on people development, operational efficiency, and considered expansion, helping strengthen the company’s infrastructure while supporting its continued success.
As a seasoned business leader and head of the family’s other enterprise, Tire Sales International, Imran leverages his expertise in business management and strategic planning to advise on growth initiatives, people development, and operational efficiency. His insight and guidance help strengthen the company’s infrastructure while supporting its continued expansion and success.
Imran has a Bachelors in Business from the University of Texas at Austin.

Celina Shariff
Celina Charania Shariff has over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and attorney. She offers financial and legal stewardship across Oil Products Distribution, combining her expertise in running business operations and her skills as an attorney.
Beyond her professional contributions, Celina is deeply engaged in voluntary service and has served as Chairman of the Aga Khan Conciliation & Arbitration Board for the United States, Vice Chair of the Advisory Council of Child Advocates of Fort Bend, and Board Member of the Texas Association of Mediators. Celina presently serves as Vice President of the Ismaili Council for the United States. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Wallis Bank.
Celina has a degree in Finance with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, a Jurisprudence Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy and Management from the Wharton School.
